Navy Week Information

Navy Week will set its “anchor” along the Connecticut River for the first time since the inception of the program in 2005, with a variety of outreach events scheduled Sept. 22-28 across the Hartford, Connecticut and Springfield, Massachusetts region.

Set in conjunction with the Big E, Hartford-Springfield in tandem are the 13th of 15 cities selected to host a Navy Week in 2025, bringing Sailors from across the country and a variety of assets, equipment, and personnel for a week-long series of engagements designed to bring America's Navy closer to the people it protects.

Connecticut is represented by two nuclear submarines named after the state: the USS Connecticut (SSN 22) based in Bremerton, Washington, and the USS Hartford (SSN 768) homeported in Groton, Connecticut. Massachusetts is represented by the pre-commissioning unit USS Massachusetts (SSN 798), located in Norfolk, Virginia and the USS Springfield (SSN 761) in Guam.

Connecticut River Valley Navy Week holds special significance as it coincides with the U.S. Navy’s 250th birthday, a historic milestone celebrating a quarter-millennium of maritime excellence, national security, and global leadership.

Navy Week public events include:

  • Daily static displays, parade participation, concerts and demonstrations at The Big E
